Log home as we
purchased it.
It takes a trained eye
to recognize a log
home. We've been
persuing this project
for years, finally got
the O.K. from the
owners to dismantle.
The home has been
carefully taken down,
tagged, restored at
our shop and is
currently under
construction as a fully
exposed log home in
San Antonio, Texas.
Exposing the logs-
After deciding to take
on the project, first
point of interest was
to expose the logs
and see what we had
to work with.
Jacobsburg Log
Cabin-
1800's Log Cabin
restored from
near Jacobsburg
State Park, here in
PA. Carefully
dismantled, piece
by piece. The logs
were tagged as
they were gently
lifted off one by
one, by a team of
4 men.
Reconstruction
Phase 1-
While carefully
dismantling, piece
by piece, we
carefully tagged
each log for
reconstruction. We
then brought the
logs back to the
shop here, and
began
reconstruction. The
picture on the left of
this row shows the
V-Notching, used by
the settlers to keep
the logs in place,
and make the
corners structurally
sound.
Fully Re-Constructed
in our Driveway-
This is the last time
this settlers home
stood here, in PA.
After the
reconstruction, it was
unfortunately time for
it to move down to
San Antonio, TX, for a
fresh start and
hopefully another
250+ years.
Ready for
shipping-
Tagged,
loaded up and
ready for
delivery.

Staircase-

have to modify the floor
plan to accommodate a
comfortable set of steps
where a ladder once stood.
Hand Hewn Timbers- used at
our shop to create a period
porch. These timbers were
harvested from the barn
that was on the property
with the log home to
ensure that the period and
the hewning were
consistent.
